Mindanao Gum

I really like this one! I don't know if it's because I got so excited about it from the beginning or because it actually is a pretty group of colors.  Either way, I like it.
The motif is from Blomqvist and Persson's Tatting Patterns and Design, it's one of the stars.
It's tatted with size 40 Tatilicious "Mindanao Gum"

SOOO.... This motif is the first of my new 25 motif challenge! lol I just noticed that since I posted 3 motifs in my last post but forgot to count, I actually finished my first 25 motif challenge with 101 motifs! I will really try to do better at counting this time around. :o)

I would show a picture of a Mindanao Gum tree, as an example of the inspiration for this colorway, but really there are so many good examples on the web that it is hard to choose just one.

Here are so inspirations for more colorways:
Nature is always a good place to start for inspiration!

Here is a Queen Anthias:

And this is an Olive Warbler:

I am also going to do a redo of my red white and blue that never made it to the shop. ;o)

Quick Post of some of my recent tatting

This started as the center of "Amusement Doily" But I got bored and went back around the outside... now I don't know what I will do with it.  But it will be a center for something.
Size 60 Tatilicious thread

These are both size 40. Fancy Fields on the left and Pink Lemonade on the right.
On the left: This is one of the flowers from the "The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito" (I can't remember what  number, but it's supposed to have a center, that I haven't add yet, so if it looks like nothing in the book, that's why.

On the right: Jon Yusoff's Sweet Rose from Tatted Snowflakes Collection.  I want to do that one again without the last row, because I really love the shape that formed. :o)

Now, this... is a "preview" of my latest dyeing.
I simply took the dyes and blotted a paper towel with them.  It will be interesting to see how much or how little the actual thread looks like this preview.

Anyway, the colorway is going to be called "Mindanao Gum"
I am really excited about it!

If you google Mindanao Gum you will probably see why. :o)

Baby Robbins....

So, I read that Robbins mature in only 2 weeks.  That seems quick, but from how much it seems they have grown already, I don't doubt it.  Yesterday, we could only just barely see the tips of their beaks.

But I took these just now (still keeping my distance)  Once Daddy (or Mommy... I dunno really) swooped in, I gave them some privacy.
They were cheeping for some food.

Once Daddy (or Mommy... I dunno really) swooped in, I gave them some privacy.

So fun!!

Alright, now I am going to go take a nap!
I have been awake for approximately 30 hours and I need a little rest.
BUT, good news, I don't have any more classes, or exams for the next few months!
I've already got loads of color ideas!

Goggly eye are just too fun!

 98/100
This is one my "one shuttle hearts" tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Gold.
I attached the eyes were the three side rings meet.
Since they are the sew on googly eyes, attaching just meant threading a loop of thread through and then passing the shuttle through the loop.
I love how giving eyes to anything, gives that object instant personality.  This doesn't work with any other facial feature.
Imagine adding just a nose to something.  It would just look weird.

Here's the back.

This little guy is packed up and heading out and up to the northwest (northwest from here anyway).  I hope he will be happy in his new home 900 miles from here! lol

And this is a robin's nest that is in our Crate Myrtle:
Can you see the little chick beaks?? SOO cute!!
In case you re wondering: I took this picture while sitting calmly on the porch and just used the super zoom to get the picture.  I would never want to disturb them and make the momma feel threatened.

*** Also, don't forget that I have a coupon in the shop right now.  I posted about it on my last post and there's a notice about it on my shop's welcome!**

Did you know?

There is a flower called "Reigning Pink Lemonade".  It's a Day lily

I had already been wanting a "Pink Lemonade" colorway, but this flower made it official!! lol

Right now all I have are size 40's and they will be in the shop tomorrow.
I would have done others but I need to wind more skeins, and that actually does take more time than I have to invest in it right now.

What I do otherwise is, wind the skeins, soak them in the soda ash and then let them dry.  Then I dye the dry skeins.
BUT, anyway, here's Pink Lemonade:

The outside color is a solid of my jade.  (like that is used in "Peacock", "Chilled", and the new but not yet available "Esmeralda")
Anybody think I should do a colorway incorporating pink lemonade with jade?
That's what I kept think while I was tatting this.
I think jade (well, my jade anyway.. it's more of a tealish blue isn't it?)  and hot pink may be my most favorite colors in the whole world. (But yellow and brown rank pretty high as well)
The butterfly makes for number 97 of my 25 100 motif challenge.  3 more to go and I will restart. lol

Fun, right??

Success!

They are in the shop now! Whoop!

As far as my finals yesterday.  They were okay.  I feel good about the Italian test, but the Marriage and Family exam was only so-so.

Now, I just have to get ready for Biochemistry on Thursday and I can stop stressing for at least a little while.  I'm looking forward to getting some dyeing done this summer!

Mentally crossing my fingers...

I tried my first attempt at redyeing tonight!  Since the last skein of Fancy Fields sold this weekend, I thought it would be wise to go ahead and redye that colorway.  So, even though I am not superstitious in any way (in reference to the finger crossing title)... I am hoping that it will turn out all right. :o)
I did at least 2 of the 100 yard skeins in size 20, and at least 1 100 yard skein in size 40 (or maybe I have that backwards?) But I will have 2 skeins of size 60 and 2 skeins of size 80!   Fun, fun huh????

ALSO!!! I have 2... count 1....2 finals TODAY! (one in eight hours, one in ten and half hours)  So, I will resume my night before exam/s freak out cramming session now!
